Crystals of Suzaku
Type One - Class Zero
Manami sighed as the fiend ran from her. She turned to a girl behind her and smiled lightly.
"There, all gone. Please be careful next time. There is a reason why we don't go past this gate after all."
The girl nodded frantically and let out a squeak as she went back to her group of friends.
"Wow saved another underclassman?"
Manami turned to see her friends, all of them smiling in approval, "It's no big deal. I mean, we are their upperclassman and we're supposed to look out for them."
"I see," Sachiko smiled lightly, "However, not one of the other students have done so. You are one of the few Manami."
"But it is a nice thing. The underclassmen are intimidated by the upperclassmen." Emi said softly.
Manami smiled at the timid girl, before being startled because Sayuri let out a scream. She pointed at a group of students.
"Oh my Cosmos it's Class Zero!" She squealed.
Miharu frowned, "What hell is so great about them? I mean, just because they're statistically advanced, it doesn't make them different from us."
"But the guys are so cute!" Sayuri eyed each one of the male members of Class Zero.
Manami sighed, "Sayu, if that's all you think about, then I shouldn't be so surprised at your results."
She then look at Class Zero, before shrugging. To her, they seem like a bunch of stuck up students anyways. Why bother with them?

"So this is Manami Koizumi?" Kurasame let out a small 'hmph' as he looked at Manami's profile, "I don't see what is so special about her."
"Ah but looks aren't everything Kurasame," Khalia took the profile out of the Class Zero Instructor's hands, "You see, Manami has the blood of the serpent running through her veins. She is able to sense an enemy from far away and has the ability to scan for enemy weakness."
"Are you trying to convince me to allow her into Class Zero? Does she have strong magic?" Kurasame raised an eyebrow.
"She can produce magic powers using the power of earth. Her Mythic Power is very high too and that's also her magic source," Khalia chuckled, "She's a very precious student. Always willing to help out the underclassmen."
Kurasame looked at the profile one more time, before letting out a sigh, "I will consider her, but I would like to see her performance in magic."

Manami walked towards the library and hummed a light tune to herself. She entered the library and the librarian smiled as soon as she saw her.
"Ah! Manami! Are you here to study again?" She asked.
"Not this time, but I was wondering if you have a book to help me study with white magic?" Manami asked.
"There's some book over in that shelf there. Please, take all the time you need." With that, the librarian went back to her job whilst Manami walked over to the shelf.
She resumed her low humming and scrolled through the shelf, looking for a book. As she was about to reach for one, a hand reached out to the same book as well. The hand retracted quickly as Manami followed it to see a girl who looked very meek
"I'm sorry!" She squeaked out as Manami shook her head.
Manami took the book and handed it to the girl, "This is what you wanted right? Take it."
The girl stared at the book for awhile, before bowing and graciously accepting the book. She scurried off as Manami smiled and resumed looking for a book. Once she found a book, Manami opened it and scanned through the book, unaware of some pairs of eyes on her.
"Isn't that Manami Koizumi from Class Thirteen?"
"The unlucky Rebellious Class? Pfft, no wonder why she needs to read books."
"I bet she's only liked by the teachers because she's a teacher's pet."
Manami frowned when she realised that the book she was reading was worthless so she closed it and placed it back on the shelf. She scanned for another book, but noticing there was nothing, she sighed and made her to way to the exit of the library. She made her way back to her classroom and meet up with her friends, but someone stopped her. It was Khalia.
"Oh, Khalia sir!" Manami bowed to the wizard, who only shook his head.
"There is no need to do that Manami. I have some wonderful news to tell you," Manami raised an eyebrow, "You are to be placed into Class Zero as soon as Kurasame decides you have the potential."
Manami was speechless. She was going to be placed in Class Zero, the class she cannot stand. She frowned lightly.
"I'm going to have to refuse Khalia sir. I belong in Class Thirteen with all my friends and classmates." She said in a firm tone.
"I would assume you would say something like that. Nonetheless, it is up to Kurasame whether he appoints you to Class Zero or not." With that, the wizard went off on his way as Manami made her way to Class Thirteen.
As she entered the classroom, she noticed it was all silent. That is, until the whole class started clapping and smiling at her. Manami blinked.
"What...?" She trailed off as Miharu ran up and swung an arm around her shoulders.
"You didn't hear!? You're going to be drafted to Class Zero! Aren't you lucky? Go show those kids we Class Thirteen can be better than them!" Miharu winked.
"You are so lucky!" Sayuri squealed as some other girls nodded in agreement.
"But...I don't want to be drafted to Class Zero. I want to be here with you guys." Manami frowned.
Russell chuckled, "Come on Manami. We all know that being in Class Zero is absolutely rare and a privilege. Go on, take the opportunity."
"Russell please," Manami said in a low tone, "If I wanted to be transferred to Class Zero, I'd be working to death."
"Take it Manami," Emi smiled softly, "If anything, this may be your chance. Your chance to receive those powers."
Manami stayed silent, but the thought of Class Zero never left her thoughts.

"Impressive," Kurasame turned off the crystal clip he was watching from, "She does have an amazing ability to create new magic from just using earth."
Khalia stood behind him, hand clasped behind his back, "Are you going to consider her?"
"She has the potential. I will allow her into Class Zero, but unlike them, she won't spar against any one of them. I want to know more of her abilities before I can assign her a Class Zero sparring partner." Kurasame said.
Khalia nodded, "Then she shall be placed into Class Zero as soon as possible then."
"A moment sir," Kurasame spoke up, "That eye that I saw...was that a curse?"
"Not necessarily. Her eye was killed and destroyed so she had surgery and they placed the Scanner Eye in replacement. It helps her really well in battle." Khalia explained.
"I see," Kurasame muttered, "Then we may need her afterall."

"What the hell is this?" Manami frowned, looking at the letter she found on her desk.
She picked it up and looked through it, surprised at who sent it to her. It was none other than the Class Zero instructor, Kurasame. Manami read the letter and she frowned even more.
"I have been placed into Class Zero? So Kurasame accepted said yes?" She asked herself, walking towards the faculty room where the instructors would normally be.
The dark haired brunette knocked on the door and opened it to see both Khalia and Kurasame. The elderly wizard smiled at her.
"Ah Manami. I see you have gotten the letter." He motioned to the letter in her hand.
"About this transfer. I refuse to be put into Class Zero." Manami said, placing the letter onto the desk, folding her arms with a firm expression.
"Manami you have great potential you know that--"
"--Being put in Class Zero means you are at the top. Yes I know. However, I will not abandon Class Thirteen."
Khalia sighed, "How about this Manami; you stay in Class Zero for a month and we may consider your refusal. But please, give Class Zero a chance."
Manami sighed, "...Understood sir."

"Did you hear? Manami is drafted from Class Thirteen to Class Zero!" Cinque exclaimed to Sice and Seven, who both looked uninterested in the topic.
Sice scoffed, "What is Kurasame thinking? There is no way a Class Thirteen student will be placed in Class Zero."
"Both Rem and Machina got into Class Zero. What makes you so sure that a Class Thirteen student won't?" Seven asked Sice, who shrugged.
From across them, Nine let out a low 'hmph' and looked over to Ace, "Oi do you know why Kurasame chose the chick from Class Thirteen?"
Ace only shook his head and spoke calmly, "No, but Manami is a well known student amongst the instructors. They find her valuable than most of the students here."
Nine scoffed at this, "Teacher's pet."
At that moment, Kurasame entered through the doors and the class went silent. Some moved to a desk and sat down as Kurasame cleared his throat.
"I have some news for you all. There will be a new addition to Class Zero today and I hope you all do treat her well. Come on in." He nodded at the door.
Manami entered through the doors, her red cape which was given to her by Kurasame was worn to half cover her body. She noticed some of the students glaring at her and frowned. Did she do something wrong?
"This is Manami Koizumi, a former student of Class Thirteen. She has been chosen to be a member of Class Zero now so you treat like one of us."
Kurasame said, but the dull replies from the Class Zero students made him frown.
Manami sighed lightly to herself, "It's alright Kurasame. I would like to take my seat now."
The instructor nodded and motioned her to Nine, "Your seat will be next to Nine."
Manami made her way to her seat and as soon as she sat down, something pushed her chair, causing it to fall. She let out a small cry as she collided with the floor and the Class Zero students started laughing at her. Manami shot a glare at Nine, who only smirked cockily at her.
"Nine! Refrain from pulling any pranks!" Kurasame shouted as Manami got up and placed the chair back on its feet, before sitting down.
She ignored Nine and listened to Kurasame. This was going to be a tough month.
Manami sighed as the fiend ran from her. She turned to a girl behind her and smiled lightly.
